When AI sent a customer our way

Recently (last week), one of our clients received an unexpected referral from ChatGPT. When a user asked where they should go for heating and air conditioning, ChatGPT recommended ABC Heating & Air Conditioning. That user didn’t just visit; they became a paying customer.

That single AI-driven conversion became proof that the work we’re doing in AEO (AI Engine Optimization) is real and measurable. As a result, ABC Heating & Air Conditioning doubled down, commissioning new investments into their website to continue building momentum, specifically Service Area Pages to saturate potential clients in the area. I'll have a note on this soon.

How we did it

We structured ABC Heating & Air Conditioning's website in Webflow, using an LLMs.txt file to help large language models (like ChatGPT) understand their business and surface it accurately in AI-driven answers. When possible, we wrote in a light conversational rhythm — more like a dialogue than a brochure — designed to connect naturally with both people and AI systems.

What’s next

We’re now expanding their site with Service Area Pages (SAPs) that hold and grow visibility across their operating zones. We’re also developing FAQ components that serve both human clarity and AI comprehension, so no matter who’s asking, the answer is clear.

The takeaway

AI referrals are here, and they’re already driving real business. If you're a designer or developer in the space and want to see exactly how I did it, I'm writing a short note on it - subscribe to our email list to stay updated. If you're interested in implementing this strategy and capturing that same opportunity, I can do it for you, too.

Let’s build your AI-ready presence.
